Apple announce local iPhone availability, Blackberry go touch screen PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 15 June 2008
For everyone who’s been living under a rock for the past few weeks, Apple have just announced the 3G version of their iPhone and scheduled the Australian release for 11 July.

The price of the new version has also been dropped with the 8Gb model costing US$199 and the 16Gb US$299. Most of the big telcos have picked it up ending rumours of exclusive deals with one supplier.

Apple have also very cleverly licensed Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync to enable iPhones to wirelessly communicate with Exchange servers.

To counter the offensive, rumours have begun that Blackberry is developing a touch screen device to compliment its recently announced 3G offerings. Little is known about the device, codenamed "Thunder" which is not expected to see the light of day until at least the end of this year.
