Gilbert + Tobin have become the first local firm to use Bighand's Blackberry integration for digital dictation.
Whilst the installation was only in a limited pilot group, the lawyers and secretaries are waxing lyrical about the advantages of Blackberry powered dictation. It will be interesting to see if Bighand can convert the pilot into a firm wide install.
We're also intrigued as to whether G+T used Blackberries for all dictation or just dictation produced outside the office. Can firms throw away all dictaphones and just give everyone a Blackberry?
The move is a win for Bighand in their battle with Winscribe and goes to further cement the place of Blackberries as the leading portable device for lawyers. Even with Microsoft giving away their mobile services for Exchange, Windows Mobile devices are yet to gain a foothold in the region's law firms.
