Microsoft releases Office and Vista

E-mail Print PDF
Microsoft has been busy this week with the release of Vista and Office 2007 to its business customers.

The folk from Seattle have been eagerly touting the new ribbon interface and particularly pushing the whole Sharepoint integration, "everything Microsoft" approach. This makes sense as there probably isn't any new functionality in Word that would justify the cost of an upgrade on its own, so they're looking to promote the interoperability between people and apps as the reason to move.

It seems that although DM vendors have produced Sharepoint web parts for their products, they will still be promoting their own portal products over Sharepoint as the "matter centric" interface. We'll just have to wait and see how Sharepoint goes in the market and whether it poses any real competition to Interwoven and Open Text in the DM space.
