ILTA release survey for 2007

E-mail Print PDF
ILTA, the International Legal Technology Association, have just released their annual survey of the state of IT in law firms.  The survey gives an amazingly comprehensive view of IT trends including:
  • 58% of firms are using virtualisation in production environments (almost all with VMWare);
  • NAS is winning over SAN (although this is likely to change this year with low end and mid-range iSCSI gear hitting the market);
  • HP has over two thirds of the server hardware market, with Dell making up most of the rest;
  • Dell has two thirds of the desktop market with HP/Compaq making up most of the rest;
  • Dell once again has over 50% of the laptop market with Lenovo and HP/Compaq making up most of the rest.
  • 71% of firms offer wireless email access to the majority of lawyers (most using Blackberries);
  • For document assembly Hotdocs is still on the decrease but no-one appears to be stepping in;
  • Interwoven Worksite continues to increase share, Opentext continues to decrease in almost equal proportions;
