AMLaw 2008 Legal Tech Survey

American Lawyer magazine and Law.com have just release the results of their 13th Annual Law Tech Survey.
  • Almost all IT directors in law firms are happy in their work (91%) although this is slightly down from last year (94%);
  • 46% of IT directors earn more than $300,000;
  • Thomson Elite (63%) and Aderant Expert (28%) have pretty much cornered the US market for financial software;
  • Capital budgets have increased by 24% on average from last year (although firms may be rethinking this after the recent crash);
  • The use of video conferencing has increased dramatically since last year;
  • The use of blogs and wikis is slowly increasing;
  • VOIP use has increased and firms are happy with the benefits.
