OpenText have announced their roadmap for the eDocs at their annual conference.
The main thrust of the plan is that current eDOCS DM 6 customers will be moved towards the Open Text ECM Suite as they have "broader compliance requirements and wider enterprise-scale ECM needs". Users of the DM 5 system (mainly law firms) will be moved onto the next version of DM, called "eDocs 14" which will support Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 and be integrated with Office 14 (hence the name). There are also plans to continue development of the Sharepoint based "Content Lifecycle Management Services for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007", a product aimed at smaller firms unable to support the infrastrure required for eDocs.
OpenText also plan a number of further enhancements to the eDocs suite including:
* Integrating it's BPM solution with eDocs.
* Integrating eDocs with "Enterprise Connect", OpenText's portal/BI product.
* Adding support to store data in Open Text's Enterprise Library Services.
